Soprano
Diane Squires maintains a busy performance schedule in the Bay Area.
She made her Solo Opera debut as Monica in The Medium and later
appeared as Lucy in The Telephone and Laetitia in The Old Maid and
The Theif. She appeared with Mission City Opera as the soprano soloist
in Handel’s Messiah and as Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte. Her
past performances include Olympia in North Bay Opera’s Les
Contes d’Hoffman, Frasquita in Bay Shore Lyric Opera’s
Carmen and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor with Capitol Opera
of Sacramento. She was a winner in the 2002 San Jose Opera Guild
vocal competition and appeared as a guest artist with the SJSU Symphony
as the Queen of the Night in a program of excerpts from The Magic
Flute. In 2004 she created the role of Christine in The Phantom
of the Opera II: Revenge of the Divas, for California Chamber Opera.
Ms.
Squires began 2005 by making her Stockton Opera debut as the First
Lady in The Magic Flute. In the spring of 2005, she will create
the roles of the White Rabbit and Creature #1 in Mrs. Carrol’s
Alice, a brand new chamber work. She will be returning to Calfornia
Chamber Opera as Carolina in a new translation of Cimarosa’s
The Secret Marriage, and will repeat the role of Christine in an
expanded production of The Phantom of the Opera II. She will travel
to Eugene in February as a semi-finalist in the Belle Voci Competition.
Ms.
Squires students range from beginning level students to professional
singers. Her students have received awards from NATS, and have gone
onto professional acting and performing careers.
