IMPORTANT RECITAL INFORMATION for PERFORMERS

Concert Date/Time
July 17, 7 pm
Performers are expected backstage at 5:50 pm. Doors will open for the audience 30 minutes before the performance.
REHEARSAL Schedule
Rehearsals: 2:00–5:00 PM at Carnegie Hall. Check your schedule here.
Each student will have exactly 5 minutes on stage
This is not meant to be a practice session but a chance to try out the piano and feel the acoustics of the hall with your instrument.
If you miss your slot, you won't get a chance to rehearse.
Unpack and tune instruments backstage ahead of your time slot.
NOTE: Piano pedal extensions are not allowed at Carnegie Hall.
REHEARSAL CALL TIME:
Block 1 – Arrive by 1:45 PM
Block 2 – Arrive by 2:45 PM
Block 3 – Arrive by 3:45 PM
Carnegie Hall does not allow parents to be backstage or in the audience during rehearsals. Please plan to drop off and pick up your child outside at 161 West 56th Street at your assigned block time. We will be letting all students from the block time at the same time so if you arrive late you may not be able to get into the hall. Please allow extra time for NYC traffic
Performers Backstage
First-half performers will remain backstage until their performance and then be seated in the balcony after intermission.
Second-half performers will sit in the balcony before intermission. Our staff will take you to the balcony seating section. During intermission, they will come backstage to prepare for their performance.
Performer Entrance:
For rehearsal and performance, performers and staff will check in at the Carnegie Hall stage door entrance at 161 West 56th Street. Carnegie hall doesn’t allow parents in the backstage areas. Performers will access Weill Recital Hall by utilizing Elevator Z to floor 4N.
Evening Schedule
5:00-6:00 PM: Tune Piano & Union Dinner Hour - NO Stage Access
5:45 PM: All performers must report backstage by 5:45 PM before the concert. Only students and staff are allowed backstage. No parents.
6:30 PM: Doors open
7:00 PM: Concert begins
All students are expected on stage after the concert for group photos.
Tickets
Tickets are available at the Weill Recital Hall Box Office (154 West 57th Street) during their open hours. Ask for the envelope with the performer’s name on it. Additional tickets can be purchased here.
Seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Everyone, including performers, will need a ticket. Each performer must retain his/her ticket for the entire recital and be ready to show it to staff members upon request.
Photography
Your recital fee includes a set of photos taken by a professional photographer approximately 10 days after the performance. Photography and video/audio recording is not permitted for audiences at Carnegie Hall.
Audio Recording
An archival audio recording will be available approximately 10 days after the performance. You may use it for competition submissions or to share with friends and family.
Video
The concert will not be video recorded.
IMPORTANT - Program
We're finalizing the program to send to the printer and will reconfirm your repertoire and exact time in a separate email. Also upload your photo here by Sunday, 6/22 to be included in the program.
DRESS CODE for Performers
Formal attire is required.
Concert Duration
Concert will last approximately 2 hours with a 15 minute intermission.
IMPORTANT - Practicing in New York
We highly recommend pianists to practice on acoustic piano. You can rent practice rooms at affordable rates here. Please make this a priority.
