Harmony Road to Private Lessons

The perfect next step after Harmony Road 2!

This unique summer class is designed to help Harmony Road 2 graduates transition smoothly into private lessons. In the past, students moving directly into private instruction sometimes encountered gaps in expectations—private lesson teachers didn’t always realize the depth of musical knowledge Harmony Road students already had.

In this class, students will solidify their understanding of note names, letter names, and begin speaking about music in the language of private lessons. Using a widely recognized piano method book (not a Harmony Road book), students will explore new techniques, expressive playing, and musical details such as dynamics and articulation. Fun, targeted games and exercises will reinforce these skills and boost their confidence.

By the end of the course, students will be well-prepared—musically and mentally—for the exciting journey of one-on-one private lessons in the fall.
